Texture of a Summer is a sculpture made from sheep‘s wool and natural dyes, created for an outdoor exhibition in the Twingi Gorge in Binntal, Switzerland. Over the course of the summer, it gradually becomes intertwined with the surrounding vegetation. Weather, moisture, and light act as co-creators, continuously transforming its form and colour.

The felt strands that hold the textile structure together while weaving it into the surrounding vegetation allude to the myth of the Three Fates, who spin, measure, and cut the thread of life, as well as to related legends from the Valais region. In particular, Ursula Walser-Biffiger‘s story The Three Fateful Women at the Source of the Rhône (Die drei Schicksalsfrauen an der Rhonequelle) serves as the work‘s narrative point of reference.
